NITA was part of Skills4Prosperity (S4P) Learning Event held on 24th-25th January 2023, at the Crown Plaza hotel in Nairobi.

The Government of Kenya is committed to increasing the supply of new housing to 250,000 annually and increasing the proportion of affordable housing from 2% to 50%. Therefore, strengthening the ability of the Jua-Kali industry to produce high quality construction products is one of the factors that make it possible. 

NITA is a key player in the implementation of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in the country. The RPL process enables persons to acquire formal qualifications that matches their knowledge and skills and thereby, contributing to improving their employ-ability, mobility and lifelong learning.

Section 3A of the Industrial Training Act provides for the Powers and Functions of the Authority which include; Assessing industrial training, testing occupational skills and awarding certificates including Government trade test certificates. In furtherance of this function, the Authority has been conducting the National Trade Test since 1959.
