Centre Overview

NITA Kisumu is one of the five Industrial Training Centers of the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA). It is located 4km from Kisumu City CBD along the Kisumu – Busia highway, opposite Motor Vehicle Inspection Unit. The Centre has boarding facilities which can accommodate 250 trainees. We admit staff from industry, sponsored or self- sponsored trainees. Our intake is done in January, May and September and twice a term for short courses.

FUNCTIONS

  1. Industrial Training – Training for pre-employment upgrades skills for both formal and informal sectors
  2. Levy Administration – Fulfilling one of the mandates of NITA as the regional office in Kisumu
  3. Industrial Attachment – Fulfilling one of the mandate at the region
  4. Trade testing – fulfilling the mandate of NITA and also providing a Trade test center for candidates

 COURSE ADVERTISEMENT

The National Industrial Training Authority, Kisumu (NITA Kisumu) Centre offers courses for persons in the formal and informal employment and, School leavers in both full time and par time basis. The Centre has boarding facilities for trainees in the full time programmes. Part-time courses may be taken either in the morning or in the afternoon Applications accompanied by copies of the National Identification Card, academic and professional certificates, four passport size photographs, and any other relevant supporting document(s) should be sent to the address below.

INDUSTRIAL TRAINING

NITA Kisumu has five Industrial training sections which are, Mechanical, Automotive, Building, Electrical and ICT.

 

CRAFT PROFICIENCY PROGRAMMES is offered in 3 levels- (Preliminary, Intermediate and Final)

COST (Kshs. 18,500.00/- level X 3) + Kshs. 500.00/-  paid once at registration
BOARDING (optional) paid separately at Kshs. 25,000.00/- per term

Has over 12 years of experience as a trainer in technical and industrial training institutions Holds other credits such as a trained health and safety practioner, quality assurance auditor and a trained risk champion Other members of staff in the section are Mr. Antony Munuhe, Mr. Taracisio Muriithi and Mr. James Okoti

Mechanical Engineering Section

Mechanical Engineering is one of the pioneer sections of NITA Kisumu. The section is training both short courses (skill upgrading) and long courses (industrial craft) in mechanical based courses for the manufacturing sector of the economy.

This section encompasses five broad discipline areas of engineering, namely Turner Machinist, Welding and Fabrication, Fitter general, Moulders, Sheet Metal Works and Boiler Technology.

Mr. Evans Abaya Asumari - Section Head
Mr. Evans Abaya Asumari - Section HeadHolds a Degree in Technology Education Has majored in Building and Civil Engineering and also a seasoned career Vocational and Technical Trainer with an experience spanning over 20 years.

The section is committed to providing skill upgrading, special courses, craft and in-house training programs in the broader Building and Civil Engineering sector.

The courses are conducted during normal working hours, evening and in industrial premises.

Building section has the following sub-sections

Masonry and Tile Placing
Masonry and Tile-placing students in the building workshop during practical sessions
Carpentry and Joinery

Plumbing and Pipe Fitting

This section comprises of four sub-sections which works closely to fulfill the mandate of the center. These include
