The training was held on the 21st of September 2017 at the NITA Headquarters in Nairobi and was presided over by the Director General Mr. Paul Kosgei.
While opening the meeting, Mr. Kosgei remarked that he was extremely hopeful that the convening of such meetings would enable each and every one of the sector committees to get the best out of their provisional work plans for the financial year 2017/18. He said that this would go a long way in ensuring that the whole economy’s training needs are adequately addressed for life long learning, creativity and innovation, equity and access.
He also added that the training should serve as a call to action in ensuring that NITA diversifies the labour market environment to accommodate emerging and non-traditional sub-sectors that are occasioned by the changing lifestyles of our peoples, new discoveries, new materials as well as emerging technology.
The events also saw various departments within NITA such as the Finance and Industrial Training NITA present their reports to the Meeting.
The Industrial Training report covered areas which included; industrial attachment, apprenticeship and indentured learnership, research and curriculum development industry based training and accreditation. Assessment and certification was another key area that was deliberated upon by the Committee members.
The meeting was a success and we as the NITA fraternity wish the Committees the all very best as they endeavour to execute their mandate.
