The partnership is meant to upgrade skills and address the gap caused by lack of modern construction skills; this is in line with the Big 4 agenda in realizing affordable housing for Kenyans and NITA’s mandates. The programme is aimed at enhancing the knowledge, skills, productivity and attitude to satisfy current industry needs. Skills' training is critical for sustainable industrialization and poverty reduction.

During the official flagging off and launch of the youth training programme Makueni County governor emphasized on the need for enhanced partnership to ensure skilled youth for employment creation and sustainability for economic development.Present during the event were, His Excellency the Governor of Makueni County Hon. Professor Kivutha Kibwana, NITA Ag. Director Industrial Training Mr. William Mwanza, Centre Manager, NITA Mombasa Mr. Liban Roba , Executive Director National Construction Authority (NCA) Eng. Maurice Akech and Makueni County Government officials. The event took place at Makueni County headquarters.
